Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions – McKinney, TX
Sharing Info about Our Dental Office and Services
Thank you for considering Archway Dental in McKinney! We hope that you’ll choose to make our dental office your dental home, but we understand that you might have questions about our services or processes. Below you’ll find responses to some of the most common questions that our patients ask us. Should you have others that aren’t discussed here, feel free to reach out to us. We’ll be happy to help however we can.
How often should I visit the dentist?
We recommend coming to Archway Dental at least twice every year for a dental checkup and cleaning. At these appointments, we remove the hardened plaque that you missed in your oral care at home. In addition, Dr. Parmar closely inspects your teeth and gums for any signs of concerning issues. If she finds something, she can quickly resolve it before it progresses and hurts your smile.
What is gum disease and how do you treat it?
Gum disease, also called periodontal disease, is an inflammatory infection in the gums. It’s important to treat it as early as possible because it can lead to tooth loss and many serious medical conditions if left untreated. If you have gum disease, we can perform scaling and root planing, which means that we’ll thoroughly clean your teeth below the gum line and make the root surfaces smooth. However, the best defense against gum disease is to prevent it in the first place. To do this, brush and floss your teeth daily and come to Archway Dental for your semiannual checkup and cleaning appointments.
Why would I need a dental crown?
Dental crowns can be used in a lot of situations to repair and restore teeth. If you have severe tooth decay or damage to a tooth, if you have a single dental implant, or if you undergo root canal therapy, you may need a dental crown. Regardless of the reason, we will make your custom dental crown to look natural and last for many years to come.
Do you place dental implants?
Absolutely! Dr. Parmar has the advanced training and experience necessary to handle the entire dental implants process right here at our McKinney dental office. Whether you need to replace just one missing tooth or a whole arch, we can provide a solution that will meet your needs and last a lifetime.
Are root canals scary?
At Archway Dental, root canals do not have to be scary experiences. You may have a toothache before we begin the procedure, but the root canal itself involves the same level of discomfort as filling a cavity. We’ll give you a local anesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel any pain whatsoever. If you still feel anxious, we can also offer nitrous oxide and IV sedation to help you relax.
How does Archway Dental help me save money?
Our team at Archway Dental makes dental care more affordable for McKinney, Frisco, and Prosper families. Not only do we accept dental PPO plans, but we even offer our own savings plan for those who don’t have dental insurance. For a low annual fee, you can get basic dental care without the headaches of filing claims or worrying about yearly maximums. We also can help you with financing through CareCredit to divide the cost of treatment into low monthly payments.
Do you accept dental insurance?
We certainly do! We accept all dental insurance, and we are in-network with most PPO plans, helping our patients enjoy significant savings on their oral health care. To ask about your specific insurance plan, give our team a call.
